The audition form is now available for the 26-27 Season. Submissions are due March 22, 2026.

ONE VOICE CHILDREN'S CHOIR AUDITION OVERVIEW

One Voice Children’s Choir is the flagship ambassador program of One Voice Children 501c3, the nonprofit organization with a mission, to inspire the world through the power of children’s voices. The experience for each child is significantly subsidized and made possible through generous sponsors, donors, foundations and grants. In addition to training and educational opportunities, singers and their guardians have the opportunity to contribute to the mission of the organization in various meaningful ways.

AUDITION SUBMISSION DEADLINE

March 22, 2026 11:59 MDT. Late submissions will not be considered.

Eligibility Singers must be 7 years old by September 1, 2026 (2nd Grade age) and can be up to 16 years old (10th Grade High School Sophomore student age).

Auditions for One Voice Children’s Choir are held annually in the spring in three rounds. Choir members commit to a weekly 1.5-2-hour rehearsal, at-home practice and preparation of repertoire and scheduled performance dates. Rehearsals are held in-person in Bluffdale, Utah, United States and participants need to live within driving distance of the studio. The main rehearsal and performance season starts late August through the beginning of June. If cast, members commit to an annual membership fee paid upfront or monthly (starting at $120/month) and participation throughout the entire season. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.

Auditions are competitive due to the high level of interest for participation. The choir is made of about 180 singers total. On average the turnover rate is around 13% due to graduating seniors and choir members moving on to pursue other priorities. Please note that the casting for the 26-27 season is limited due a smaller graduating class. The turnover rate will likely be less than average for this season.

The One Voice Creative Team is looking for passionate singers and performers of all backgrounds who are able to demonstrate strong musicianship as well as mature discipline in demanding rehearsal and performing environments. Younger singers should be able to demonstrate focused behavior as they are developing their musicality. More is expected of older singers in musicianship, leadership, professionalism and discipline. In all audition rounds, the casting team assesses tonality, rhythm, dynamics, diction, style, performance, emotion, as well as overall ability to focus and follow direction.

Parents/Guardians play an active role in their minor child’s experience—thus interactions with directors and staff will be taken into consideration during the casting process. The vast majority of singers cast in One Voice Children’s Choir come from multiple years of previous music and singing experience (private vocal/instrumental instruction, choral performance, theatrical productions, workshops, camps, etc). It is common for singers to audition multiple times before being cast as a member of the choir. It is recommended for those seriously interested to seek out and take advantage of classes, workshops, intensives and camps offered by One Voice Children where the child has the opportunity to start training with One Voice Staff. Information on these classes and offerings are made available at OneVoiceChildren.org throughout the year. The majority of children and youth accepted into One Voice Children's Choir participate in One Voice Junior Choir.

Demand
Participation in One Voice Children’s Choir is a significant commitment beyond casual extracurricular programs and will need to be prioritized in the child and family’s schedule. Each season is a demanding educational, as well as semi-professional experience (similar in commitment required for a competitive youth sport team). Choir membership is a full year commitment for those cast. Choir members agree and commit to the following:

1. Weekly Rehearsals: Attend weekly in-person rehearsals from the end of August through May each year. (Choir members attend weekly 1.5 hour to 2-hour rehearsals on Tuesdays). Rehearsals are held at One Voice Children Studio in Bluffdale (761 W Honda Park Dr, Bluffdale, UT 84065).

2. Individual Practice: Choir members commit to learning their individual parts on their own time using provided reference materials to allow choir rehearsals to be efficient and effective, especially—given the diverse age range the choir supports. One Voice Children's Choir first year members typically learn and rehearse about 30 songs, with the most advanced singers in the choir learning and rehearsing around 50 songs. (Junior Choir prepares about 14 songs per season).

3. Choir members record and submit individual pass off videos demonstrating their knowledge of their choir part and their vocal ability in order to be performance eligible on the repertoire.

4. Fee: Pay an annual membership fee (starting $120/month starting June after casting). Financial aid is available for families who qualify. All membership fees are nonrefundable. Membership fees increase for age groups where private voice lessons are required.

4. Wardrobe: In lieu of wardrobe fees, choir members provide their own wardrobe following OVCC's wardrobe style guides.

Solo/Tour Eligibility

Singers in One Voice Children's Choir are not eligible to audition for solos until they have completed a full season of choir participation. Choir members become eligible to apply and audition for advanced performing opportunities and tour experiences after multiple years of participation, typically for older choir members. Solos and touring experiences are not guaranteed. One Voice Children's Choir has internal tiers to support individual vocal growth in choral, ensemble performance and solo vocal performance.

AUDITION VIDEO (INITIAL ONLINE AUDITION SUBMISSION)

Video

  • The video must be a YouTube video link and the video should be over 1 minute in total length in order to not be classified or labeled as a "YouTube short". The video's viewing setting must be set to UNLISTED. Videos set to public viewing, private or links from other platforms will not be considered (iCloud, Dropbox Google Drive, etc).

  • The video should be filmed horizontally (landscape) and not vertical (portrait). The subject should have the top third of their body in frame. The singer should perform standing up.

  • Test your video link before submitting by sending the link to a family member or friend to ensure that they can view the video easily.

Slate

  • Please slate at the beginning of your video by saying your name, age, your current grade in school and the name(s) of the song(s) you are singing.

  • Submission video must be performed live (either a cappella or with accompaniment). The voice must be prominently audible, without any vocal tuning or processing. Professional microphone setup is not needed. Phone audio and visual is perfectly acceptable.

Song Selection

  • No Religious, Disney, Choral or Musical Theater songs. All audition songs are required to be in the Pop genre. Pop connected genres are appropriate such as Pop/Rock, R&B and Country Pop.

  • Auditionees Grade 2-6 (Grades starting Fall 2026): perform your best 45 seconds of a Pop song.

  • Auditionees Grade 7-10: perform your best 45 seconds of two Pop songs (one ballad/slow-tempo and one up-tempo). Please make sure both songs are included in a single video.

  • The song(s) should demonstrate the singer’s musicality (pitch, tone, rhythm, range), performance confidence, emotion, authenticity in communication, personality and vocal styling.

Song selection additional guidance: The selection needs to be around 45 seconds but shouldn't be a lot shorter or a lot longer. Typically with this type of audition cut, the singer will sing a verse and chorus, or a bridge and chorus. A good song selection for a singer will allow the singer to demonstrate a variety of musical elements, performance and styling. Avoid songs that are extremely repetitive or that live in a small vocal range (examples of songs to avoid: Fight Song, Count on Me, Lost Boy). If you need assistance with song selection, please make sure to sign up for the audition workshop.

Please use the email address to be contacted about your submission on the audition form. You should receive an email copy of your responses after submitting the form.
